Blackie's Poor Tail
Pumpkin's Momma here. Blackie had to go to the vet yesterday. On Monday, we noticed that Blackie couldn't hold her tail up. When we pet her back, she usually arches her back and her tail goes up, but now, about 3 inches from the base, her tail just hung limply down. I tried to examine it, and noticed it was swollen but she kept pulling it away from me so I thought she just sprained it somehow. On Wednesday, she kept licking her tail and I saw that there was an open sore on it. After what happened to poor TeaCup, I didn't want to take any chances and out came the PTU and to the vet she went, with Blackie complaining all the way. Dr. Lau said there was a "separation" in her tail and it could be either broken or more likely, she tore some ligaments in it. He wrapped it and put a splint on it and she needs to keep it on for 2 weeks. Since the sore was infected, she received a shot and needs to take liquid Clavamox for the next 7 days. So far, she's being very good and is leaving her wrapped tail alone.
We suspect that she got in a fight with Tiger, and he bit her tail but he's not admitting anything!

Oh, poor Blackie. It loks like she's taking it pretty well. We will purrrrr and purrrayer for her. Get well soon.

Ouchie! Poor Blackie! I am very sorry that her tail got so hurty. I can tell she is being very brave, though.
You have my full sympathies as this happened to me 2 weeks ago. My tail went limp and they rushed me to the VET. I was lucky and there is no break and my tail started recovering very quickly. I hope yours does too!!

we are very glad you had this checked out! We have had many tail owies too, stiches for Zed and Merlin and Jezebel caught hers on fire. We really feel bad for you. And we are sending our loves and purrs.
